This method does use the three coins; I read it in 'The I Ching Handbook' by Edward Hacker (pg. 145). 1. Throw one coin. Record wether it comes up head (H) or tails (T). 2. Throw three coins. Record how many heads (H) ans tails (T) come up. 3. The appropriate line is determined by the following table: First throw Second throw Line Prob. T T+T+T Moving Yin 1/16 T not (T+T+T) Static Yin 7/16 H H+H+T Moving Yang 3/16 H not (H+H+T) Static Yang 5/16 4. The above steps are repeated for each line.
