Elaine, could you help us on this > one? Just a note... Every reference I've come across says you should NEVER boil herbs for tea.. just pour almost boiling water over them then COVER and steep. The exception to this is most roots and barks, but Valerian is one of those roots that should not be boiled. The reason behind the not boiling and the be sure to cover directions is that much of the herbs' efficacy lies in volatile consituents, which are dispersed in the steam, and broken down by the boiling. The recipes I;ve come across usually say to steep covered for 15 minutes.
