Since many cases of eczema are triggered by allergies, both contact and food, start by eliminating (as much as possible, that is) cow's milk, eggs, artificial colors, food preservatives and tomatoes (the things statistically most likely to trigger food allergies) and anything you know or suspect you may be allergic to from your diet; and eliminate scented soaps, cosmetics, synthetic fabrics and tight clothing, etc., etc. from contact with your skin. You didn't say *where* the eczema was, so I can't be much more specific on possible contact allergens, but everything from colored/scented toilet paper to dish detergent *could* be responsible. A course of "cleansing" herbs/foods, such as red clover, burdock root, yellow dock root, nettles, Mahonia (Oregon Grape), Berberis (barberry), echinacea and (especially) milk thistle, and the addition of essential fatty acids in your diet, particularly omega-3 fatty acids, from fatty fish, nuts, seeds, flaxseed oil or even fish oil supplements are likely to be beneficial, with the usual caveat that one should avoid excessive caffeine and chocolate intake (YES, *I* have problems following my own advice...I drink LOTS of coffee and tend to rip off my own offspring for their easter candy ), and eat a diet high in veggies and whole grains and low in junk food. If there is a fungus/yeast involved you should certainly use Tabebuia (Pau 'd arco) as well. A cream containing licorice extract (glycyrrhetinic acid) or whole licorice and chamomile may be used instead of cortisone creams and sometimes even proves to be more effective. Any of the healing herbs (comfrey, mullein, self-heal, etc., etc.) would be appropriate to include in a salve or use as a compress. And, of course, try to minimize stress in your day-to-day life, as stress of ANY sort may make these conditions worse. Can you trace down any changes that might have triggered the eczema....anything from dietary changes, to changes in bath soap, to any emotional stress? If you can might well make it easier to get rid of the eczema by getting rid of whatever triggered it in the first place. --- FreeMail/Blue Wave v2.12 [NR] * Origin: The Wizards Realm BBS 1-713-946-7315 93:9008/0 (93:9008/0)
