Message #938 - THE_HERBALIST Date: 12-21-95 09:20 From: Morgan To: Corlleen Plumb Subject: catalogs! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- @MSGID: 93:9040/13 b209cdfd CP> I have a question to throw out: I am about to go into surgery CP> for a bad gall bladder. Any recommendations for teas, etc? Richard Mabey (The New Age Herbalist) recommends that for inflammation of the gall bladder you make an infusion/decoction of 1 part each dandelion, Oregon grape, fringe tree bark, and wahoo, and 2 parts marshmallow root and drink until the condition improves. For gallstones, use bitters like dandelion, Oregon grape, greater celandine, culver's root, and wahoo, combined with relaxing/soothing herbs like chamomile, crampbark, marshmallow, slippery elm. He warns that treatment of these disorders should be done under the direction of a trained herbal practitioner. I have also heard that adding lecithin to the diet is very helpful for a bad gallbladder.
