Happiness is a relative term, Mara. I'm quite happy with my books though it's a pain to ruffle through all the pertinant material to get exactly what I need. The problem is not the quality of info. - it's the quantity! Take a look at some of the following - these are about 80 of my favorites so far even though I find that I keep adding to the list of favorites - ;) I am a wildcrafter myself and a practicing herbalist so the accurate identification of herbs in the wild and the correct information about chemical elements and bodily actions are crucial to me. I've managed to reach a relatively comfortable plateau with the following books though by no means a "complete" one. The following list is meant to illustrate only the quantity of "angles" out there. Each one of these has it's own peculiar value entirely apart from the others. I use *all* of the following relatively regularly and the list doesn't include the more oddball material that I've collected and only dig out when confronted by otherwise unanswerable questions. These are my treasures and I wouldn't give up even one if my life depended on it. ;) Edible Native Plants of the Rocky Mtns, Harrington The Complete Book of Incense, Oils, & Brews, Cunningham The Magic of Herbs, Conway Natural Healing in Gynecology, Nissim Wildflowers of the Western Plains, Kirkpatrick Edible Wild Plants of the Prarie, Kindscher The Weed Cookbook, Crowhurst Herbal Medications, Spoerke Natural Healing with Herbs, Santillo American Medicinal Plants, Millspaugh Sagebrush Country, Taylor Using Plants for Healing, Coon British Herbs, Ranson School of Natural Healing, Christopher A Country Harvest, Michael Magic and Medicine of Plants, Reader's Digest Home Remedies and Herbal Cures, Bishop The complete book of herbs and spices, Garland Weiners Herbal, Weiner Natural Medicine for Children, Scott Folk Remedies of the Low country, Morton Common and Edible Plants of the West, Sweet Trees and Shrubs of Colorado, Carter PODS: Wildflowers and Weeds in their Final Beauty, Emberton Range Plant Handbook, US Dept of Agriculture, Forest Service Weeds of the West, Western Society of Weed Science Desert Plants, Sheilds The Herb Book, Lust Stalking the Healthful Herb, Gibbons Stalking the Wild Asparagus, Gibbons Rainforest Remedies, Arvigo Edible and Useful Wild Plants of the United States and Canada, Saunders Roadside Plants of Northern New Mexice, Tierney Edible Wild Plants, Elias Field Guide to Medicinal Wild Plants, Angier Shaker Herbs, Miller Indian Herbology of North America, Hutchens Color Treasury of Herbs and other Medicinal Plants, Cowhig The Wild Flavor, Kluger The Herbal handbook, Hoffman North American Range Plants, Stubbendieck Medicinal Plants of the Mountain West, Moore Poisonous Plants, Woodward The Dictionary of Modern Herbalism, Mills Planetary Herbology, Tierra How to be your own Herbal Pharmacist, Rector-Page Rocky Mountian Berry Book, Kruman Hygieia, Parvati Plant Medicine & Folklore, Fielder Medicinal Plants, Fluck Potters New Cyclopaedia of Medicinal Herbs and Preparations, Wren Field guide to Edible Wild Plants, Angier Foxfire 1, 2, and 3 - Wigginton (three seperate books) The Healing Herbs, Castleman Modern Encyclopedia of Herbs, Kadans The Master Book of Herbalism, Beyerl Herbs for Health and Cookery, Loewenfeld The Herbal Body Book, Tourles Traditional Home & Herbal Remedies, Jan De Vries Sea Vegetables, McConnaughey Sybil Leeks Book of Herbs A Handbook of Native American Herbs, Hutchens Guide to Medicinal Plants, Schuenberg Today's Herbal Health, Tenney Elixers of Life, Leyel Healing Wise, Weed The Wild, Wild Cookbook, George A Guide to Medicinal Plants of the United States, Krochmal The Complete Book of Spices, Heinerman Early American Herb Recipes, Brown Earth Medicine, Earth Food, Weiner The Honest Herbal, Tyler Health Plants of the World, Pistola Rodales Illustrated Encyclopedia of Herbs The Complete Medicinal Herbal, Ody Health Through God's Pharmacy, Treben Herbal Medicine, Buchman > My technical mind needs a reference that goes into detail about the > specific chemical constituents of each herb and I've yet to find anything > that does that.
