Message #675 - THE_HERBALIST Date: 04-07-96 17:35 From: Galen Starwalker To: All Subject: Natural Skin Care.. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now is the time of the Spring Holidays in this part of the country, and Spring is definately in the air. It may be time to discuss some basic skin care before we get too carried away with outdoors activities. An excellent astrigent or skin freshner for removal of oily residue from soaps, presperation and air born dust particles can be made right in your own home. The rose water gives it a nice light floral scent and makes it even more refreshing. Dissolve one quarter teaspoon borax powder in three tablespoons distilled water. Add three tablespoons rose water and one tablespoon of fine vodka. Stir well and put into a clean bottle with a tight fitting lid. Apply to your skin with a cotton ball or swab. If your skin is feeling chapped, have suffered wind burn or other damage, a healing lotion can be made by substituting three tablespoons chamomile tea for either the distilled or the rose water in the above recipe If your skin is too sensitive for the vodka in either of the above, omit it and substitute two tablespoons of orange flower water. The addition of two tablespoons witch hazel makes this a very healing formula, especially with the chamomile. It is not quite as drying as using the alcohol and it smells nice too.
