I know nothing HQ>P>about making incense but Fiona (Harley) in this echo HQ>P>knows a GREAT deal about HQ>P>all of this, its her area of interest. HQ> PK> I look forward to discussing this with her if she is willing. HQ> Oh shit - she put me on the spot. ;) Seriously, I am more than HQ>willing to discuss making incense. I enjoy working with herbs: healing, for HQ>beauty, for incense, etc. Basically, all aspects of herbalism.... I'm -so- glad this was brought up then! I have a question on tinctures. I have been making them with grain alcohol, a tiny bit of water, and dried herbs. I've recently read that the ratio should be 200 g fresh, or 400 g dried herb to 1 liter alcohol\water mix, 25% alcohol and 75% water! It seems that I have been using much to much alcohol - or not enough water. I wonder if I can now just add a proportionate amount of water to my already tinctured herbs, or is it too late? Suggestions? HQ> PK> I know how to make an oil that is HQ>P>wonderful for the skin. I have seen it heal burns in days. HQ> PK> I would love to know of this, if you are willing to share, and if this HQ> PK> is not a forbidden topic. I really can't see why this type of herbal HQ> PK> information would be frowned upon... Would the base of this oil be a HQ> PK> calendula infusion? HQ> PK> BB HQ> PK> Pen HQ> No, there is no calendula in the oil. It's pure plantain. You know HQ>that simple weed that annoys most people in this country because they can't HQ>get HQ>rid of it in their yards. And it is supposed to be plentiful here in Florida! I have yet to run across any... sigh... I have been successful in using tea tree oil for many things that plantain is also used for. How would you compare the two in effectiveness? Suggestions? I've seen so many different ways to make tinctures. One of the recipes I have calls for no water at all. So, IMHO, leave it the way it is. What are the tinctures, if I may ask? That's when it gets all silvery-looking. Here in Louisiana, that's close or during fall, usually. PK> I have been successful in using tea tree oil for many things that PK> plantain is also used for.
