1. - What is the Hypnotic Fantasies IRC Channel?

The Hypnotic Fantasies IRC Channel is a registered channel on DALnet. It
was created in mid-1997 to provide a place for those over 18 years of age,
with an interest in the erotic aspects of hypnosis, to safely meet and
discuss their fantasies, experiences, or ideas. There is a secondary
channel, #Hypnofantasy.play, where those who wish to do "scenes", which, in
our case are mostly  mind-control fantasy scenes, may do so.

2. - How do I get here?

First you need an IRC client. Some examples of this are Micr40, mIRC, and
IRCle. A good server to start with is IRC.DAL.NET. Once you're signed on to
IRC, merely go to the channel #Hypnofantasy - and you're here. If you want
to find a server closer to you, as well as more information about DALnet
and links to clients, check http://www.dal.net.

3. - Who's in charge here?

Channel ops are RCwrites ,  HypnoHolly, and HypnoEd. Feel free to ask any
of us any questions you may have, or to report unfriendly or antagonistic
behavior. We obviously aren't a "family" establishment, but we try and keep
the mood light and friendly. We aren't currently looking for more ops.

4.- So what can and can't I do on this channel?

You can talk to others with interests similar to yours. You can sometimes
hear about actual inductions or experiences. You can share your fantasies
if you wish to a generally supportive audience. You can find people who
share your specific tastes to experiment with fantasy mind-control with
you, either in private chat or the #hypnofantasy.play channel. You can join
in the discussions or mostly listen until you feel comfortable talking. You
can use the #hypnofantasy.play channel for "scenes", leaving the main
channel free for open discussions. You CAN'T belittle people for their
thoughts or ideas or beliefs. If there's a spirited debate going on and
both people are participating, then you can address the ideas or beliefs
themselves -- there's a difference. You CAN'T be rude, obnoxious,
aggressive, or disrespectful. We've kicked and banned before, and we'll do
it again if the situation requires it. We want this to be a place people
feel safe. This is always the OP's call, and we're usually pretty
reasonable about what constitutes a violation. Sadly, puns are allowed.

4. - What's this #hypnofantasy.play channel?

We want to keep the main channel open for discussion. It's a bit awkward
doing an online induction on the main channel with everything else going
on. The "play" channel is there for people who want to do "scenes", online
inductions, etc. Anything that the whole group can't participate in belongs
either in the "play" channel or a private chat. Before speaking on the
#hypnofantasy.play channel, PLEASE look and see if anything is already
going on there. If so, please wait your turn. Scenes on .play are usually
announced in the main channel before they begin. If an op is on and plans
to be around for the duration of the scene, they may take requests to set
.play so that only the people in the scene can talk there.

5. - What issues do you have around consent, general D/s stuff, etc.?

This is NOT a D/s channel. Please leave your collars, etc. at the door as
you enter.  This isn't a forum for you to show off your slaves or do
full-blown Dominant/submissive play of any sort. Take it to .PLAY or
private chat, please, or there are several channels relating to that topic.

However,  there is a great deal of interest in the hypnotic "control"
issue, either gaining or losing control, and thus the question of CONSENT
arises.

Many hypno-fantasies involve "nonconsensual" play. As long as the PLAYERS
(the real people) involved are actually consenting,  fantasy scenes
involving nonconsensual acts with the CHARACTERS are allowed in scenes on
the .PLAY channel . If this sounds confusing, the people on the channel can
usually help explain it. In all of these cases, it's a very good idea to
have a safeword. For those unfamiliar with it, if a safeword is used,
everything instantly stops until you discuss what's going on. If you don't
set one up, the default is 'safeword.' We take real consent VERY SERIOUSLY,
and have banned people for not honoring it.
