  In Barrett's universe, The Soul is the highest manifestation of the human
mind. The Brain is the lowest manifestation of the mind. 
     
Barrett goes on to say that the human soul takes after the 'nature' of the
Intelligences rather than gross matter. The human mind can be a channel and
controller for Divine Ideas (potential) that flow from First Cause down into
gross matter, but only if the mind is in harmony with its higher celestial
nature (soul). 
     
To create lasting effects in a material world, an unobstructed connection
must be maintained from the Source Of Unlimited Potential, to the Soul, to
the Brain, and then into the Gross Material world. 
     
The Mind can dwell on the celestial or the material. Sex can be a union with
God, or just screwing, Sorcery or Sensation, Merging or Masterbation. This is
the true meaning of Free Will. 
     
Each element retains its respective 'nature', but in a passive state. Ideas
from Unlimited Potential can be channeled into the receptive mind, into the
material brain, and then be used to activate or change the form and movement
of the material elements. 
     
Lead into Gold, levitation, materialization and destruction, healing of
bodies, disolution and death of material bodies, the probability of your
Mother In Law comming to dinner on a paticular day and time, anything which
is *potentially* possible and conforms to the 'nature' of elements* can be
made to happen. 
     
Although the body of the magician is composed of elements and gross matter,
the Mind moves it, controls it, and thinks with it, and is not of the
elements; but instead, the highest aspect of the mind is like the
Intelligences-it can control potential and impress 'virtues' and form upon
gross matter-including the gross matter of the body. The more you let your
mind become grossly material, the less effect you have on the material around
you-and the less control over your personal material existence. As we
seperate ourselves from 'God/Goddess' (total potential) and his/her 'Angels'
(Intelligences), and our soul (celestial nature), we come ever closer to
becoming discorperated (non existance), because we can't hold our form
together. If the whole race becomes centered in gross material existence we
all may stop existing (extinct).
