The Laws of Magick MAGICLA1.TXT ********************************************************************** Observe and mark well for these are the Laws of the Craft known as 'Magick'. Law of Knowledge Understanding brings knowledge. Knowledge is the harbinger of control. To control is to have power over. Law of Self Knowledge All is contained within ones self. (As above - so below - Micro/Macrocosm) and to know Thyself fully is to know all. Law of Names A name defines a thing. To name a thing is to define it and give it borders - and to know the name is to know that thing. Law of the Words of Power A single word; to the wise - is sufficient. Certain words are powerful due to their vibration or other circumstance but all words are lesser than those who wield them properly. Law of Association If two things share a third; that third thing is that which can be used to control both of the first two. Law of Similarity The more similar entities are, the more they influence each other and the more alike the methods of controlling each become. Law of Contagion The more one entity is in contact with another - the easier it becomes to use one of those things to control the other. Law of Cause and Effect The exact same actions done under exactly the same conditions will always be associated with exactly the same effect. (PS - the key word here is EXACTLY) The Law of Identification This Law is a combination of the Laws of Knowledge, Association and Personification. This Law states that by maximum association one can become another thing and wield the same power as that thing. Law of Synthesis The synthesis of two opposing things will produce a third that will be "truer" than either of the original two. Synthesis reconciles. Law of Polarity Anything may be split into two completely opposite characteristics ... and each of these polarities contains the essence of the original and thus - the other polarity within itself. Law of Balance If one wishes to survive (let alone become powerful); one must keep all aspects within balance. One must strike a dynamic rather than a static balance. Law of Infinite Data The amount of data that may be perceived by the senses is; by virtue of the changing nature of the Universe; constantly changing. If one learns by perceiving data then one can never learn everything there is TO learn. One will NEVER run out of things to learn. Law of Finite Senses Each sense is limited within the individual. What this means is that (innately) one can rarely feel something with one's eyes ... nor smell with one's hands. It infers on a broader sense that one can never "sense" everything (owing to the Law of Infinite Data) just as one can never "know everything". Law of Infinite Universes Is intimately linked with the Law of Pragmatism and states that there are an infinite number of ways to perceive the Universe. This means that there is an infinite number of ways to "know" and "understand" the Universe; and therefore, and infinite number OF Universes. This Law is a necessary result of the Law of Infinite Data, coupled with the Law of Finite Senses. The less one knows the more ways there will be TO know . Therefore the less information one has - the greater the speculation quotient (the greater the possibilities). Law of Pragmatism If it works - it is correct. The greater the success - the more correct it is. The Sub laws The Sub law of True Falsehoods This law refers to the things that although generally are wrong; defy the laws of the Universe ... and work anyway. The main principle of this Law is this: "If it is a paradoxical thing- it is probably correct". The Sub law of Personification This Sub law states that any phenomenon or object may be considered to be "alive" in some way and have a "personality" and consciousness. In short ... any phenomenon or object may be considered an ENTITY. The Sub law of Invocation and Evocation By altering ones self - one alters ones Universe and reality. With practise one may draw forth anything from within or without of ones personal reality.
