MUDRA DATA MUDRA01.TXT ************************************************************************ The human race is an integral part of God's ultimate creation - the Universe. In fact, the human body is designed like the universe with its five basic elements, namely, Fire, Air, Earth, Water and Space. The science of Mudra is based on these elements. It believes that an imbalance and improper co-ordination between these elements causes mental and physical disorders, and therefore their sycronised functioning is the secret of good health. Our bodies are like a never-ending mystery, but are also a treasure of health, happiness and peace. God has constantly challenged mankind with problems but has also given it the strength and ability to overcome them. Most of these solutions are found in our own hands (literally speaking). According to the science of Mudra, the secret of good health lies in our hands and fingers (Mudras are, in fact, performed with the help of fingers). The five elements are represented in each of our fingers performing a healthy function. The thumb represents fire or the sun, the index finger signifies air or wind, the middle finger represents the sky or space, the ring finger stands for the earth and the small finger represents water. Our hands operate our body's Health Control Department. They emit a particular kind of energy or electro-magnetic waves or the electricity of the body (aura). By rubbing our palms against each other and generating heat through touch and by utilising the power of our minds we can cure even the most mysterious diseases. Modern Science too agrees that different kinds of electro-magnetic waves are transmitted from our fingertips. According to ancient sages and rishis who discovered Mudra Vigyan, specific points in our palms need to be pressed to treat specific diseases. By touching our hands against each other or by folding fingers in a particular manner or pressing some points of hands, we can cure any disturbances with the help of our fingers in co-ordination with the elements of life. The Mudra Technique Mudras are based on touch therapy and their regular practice helps to balance the five elements. Mudra Vigyan is an important part of yoga. Acharya Keshave Deo (Vivekananda Ashram Patpadanj, Delhi) best describes it as the key to good health. According to him: "If a human body is a machine, then mudras are the controlling switches of this machine. With the help of these control switches, we can create particular kind of energy waves in our body, whenever required. By creating these waves, the five elements are properly balanced and this helps man in his physical, mental and spiritual progress. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Ayuvedwebline.com-Yoga:Mudra
