{from Anahita-gula in Ottawa} I'd like to pass on some information on original graduate-level works done recently on Neo-Paganism and Wicca which are available through most Inter Library Loan systems at college and university libraries. IF they are not yet listed, they should be available for borrowing and/or photocopy within the next 3 months or so. 1) Sandilands, Catriona Alison Hayward. "Spirituality and Praxis: Witchcraft and Neo-Paganism in Canada". M.A. Thesis, York University, 1988. 2) Tyrrell, Marc Wyly Douglas. "Strands of Moonlight: An Examination of the Institutionalization Process Amongst Neo-Pagan Witches in Ottawa". M.A. Thesis, Carleton University, 1992. 3) Johnson, Lynn. "Contemporary Witchcraft: Aspects of History, Structure and Cosmology". M.A. Thesis, University of Calgary, 1991. 4) Reid, Sian Lee. "Portrait of Janus: A Social Constructionist Analysis of Witchcraft in the Ottawa CITIZEN, 1980 - 1989". M.A. Thesis, Carleton University, 1992. 5) Rabinovitch, Shelley TSivia. "An' Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will": Neo-Pagans and Witches in Canada". M.A. Thesis, Carleton University, 1992. Yes, these are ALL Canadian pieces of research: my scanning through the Ph.D and M.A. catalogues available didn't show much grad level work on Neo-Paganism coming out of the U.S.?? Hmmmmmm.... Also: The Anthropology Dept. at Carleton University (Ottawa, Ontario) also has an Honours B.A. paper by Mary Slade which MAY be available for copy: "The Fire Within: An Introduction to Witchcraft in Canada". (1989)...at the University of Ottawa there WAS an M.A. paper (degree WITHOUT thesis entails a major research paper instead) done by Eve Gaboury on sorceresses in Quebec (done entirely in French, this apparently looks at Neo-Pagan Feminist groups in Quebec). However, when I tried to get it to read for my thesis......the departmental copy had GONE MISSING. Efforts so far to find it have been fruitless. (I am currently trying to find a copy through the author or her committee..) I would be EXTREMELY interested in hearing about other major academic works on Neo-Pagans and Wiccans which might be floating out there. RUmour has one M.A. out of the University of Saskatchewan at Saskatoon...but I've had no luck locating such a thing. Feedback? Is any of this information of use? My full annotated bibliography on Neo-Paganism and Wicca will be available through bitnet access within one year via the University of Ottawa's religious studies department. We apparently have quite a few good bibliographies online thru the university which can be accessed FREE by academics. I will post more information as I get it.
