EXTRACTED FROM THE TANTRA TEXTS WICCANAT.TXT *********************************************************************** [Text has some changes and commentaries by ganashyam das.] As this one's research continues on, it becomes increasingly apparent that the path/practice now called Wicca actually originated in India and somehow over the centuries migrated west into Europe. Some of the practices/knowledge being lost, some being distorted, some being deliberately changed and some of it staying relatively intact. One of the current projects at the Natha Heart Cave is to extract the original rituals, knowledge, magick and sex magick from the ancient texts, [some of the texts are 1000's of years old] and make the knowledge available to modern day Wiccans and those on any other spiritual path who seek to increase their knowledge and wisdom. *********************************************************************** The concluding Sanskrit expression in the Avadhoota Upanishad [An Indian holy text written by Shri Datta.] is Svecchaparo. The term Paro means a mysterious or secret pattern to the action done by one's own Will [ritual] but with discretion, not making it too obvious or to harm or hurt other people. "Do as thou wilt as long as it harms none.", Is a basic tenet in Wicca. Yet this is also a typical Nathism [The Natha's are a spiritual sect in India] as a complete reversal of Vedic Morals and Philosophy This combined attitude toward people and one's own Will is clearly expressed by Shri Datta. [An Enlightened Being who lived fully in God(dess) Consciousness 24 hours a day.] In the Avadhoota Upanishad, Datta wrote: "What I actually wanted to do is exactly what I did. What I wished for, I received, and this always happens. No matter what I do, whether it is that ordained by Scripture or by customs, or that which is natural and not restrained, are my own inhibitions or feelings. Yet, although I do not wish for it, I may follow Spiritual patterns prescribed by scripture, but I do this for the benefit of humanity (not wishing to confuse them). What can it matter to me. [To me this indicates that a "Master" may exhibit actions that may not be actually necessary or appropriate to Divine will that causes his/her devotee's to be more comfortable with what is taught and how it is taught.] The main Vedic culture in India was fairly anti-sex with very strict rules for everything, placed women in an inferior position and practiced the caste system. The caste you were born into was what you had to stay in your whole life. If born to a garbage collector family, the only work you were allowed to do in your life was collect garbage. The Trantiks broke with the Vedic culture and practiced many things forbidden in the Vedas. They gave women an equal place in spiritual life and worshipped both God and Goddess. *********************************************************************** The sanskrit word Tantra can be translated as weave, magick, magician. In the East, a really serious spiritual seeker sought out a Master to become a disciple of, an apprentice of and or to study with. The word Master was only used for a person who had become Fully Enlightened and who lived in what is called "Full God(dess) Consciousness" 24 hours a day. These Masters fully understood the universe, all the energies in the universe, and how to use them. They also fully understood human bodys/minds/souls, and created "tools" for their disciples/apprentices to use to develop themselves and to accomplish things in the physical universe. *********************************************************************** Some of the original "tools" used by seekers of wisdom and taught by the tantrik Masters: Meditation ---------- Meditation is bringing the mind to a full standstill. That is entering a altered state of consciousness where the mind ceases to have any thoughts and remaining in that state of consciousness for a time period. It is said,"All Masters and all Real spiritual teachers teach meditation to their disciples, devotees and followers as the primary tool for spiritual growth." Meditation on an each and every day basis....bears much fruit. Meditation done only occasionally, or a non everyday basis is of value, however the amount of value is very very small compared to value gained from meditating each and every day. Meditating on an each and every day basis brings inner peace, balancing of all internal energies, healing of soul/mind/body, and eventually creates siddhis [spiritual powers] in the meditator. It is said,"Each time one actually enters deep meditation, an opening occurs inside that person and the person is filled with Divine Energy, called Shakti in the East. It is said,"Even if one only enters deep meditation for a few seconds, one gets filled with the Divine Energy and it causes internal growth, healing of soul, mind and body and brings inner peace." It is said,"Even entering deep meditation for a few seconds will cause a portion of one's negative Karma to be dissolved away." It is said, "Unless one practices meditation on a daily basis very little, real spiritual growth ever takes place. This is a "truth" wether you believe it to be true or not!" Breathing --------- The next major tool is breath control. Most people in western culture breathe with shallow breaths expanding and contracting the chest. Breathing from the diaphram fully fills the lungs. [almost all little children breath like this.] A diapharm breath supplies the body with about seven times the amount of oxygen than a chest breath does. An increase of oxygen to the body increases the mental I Q, the strength of the bodies immune system, awareness and the amount of psychic power available to be used. The breath is fully inter meshed with/connected to one's emotions. As a person's emotion changes, the way a person is breathing changes. When one's breathing changes the emotions change. When one has learned how one breathes in various emotional states and how to control their breathing, one has control over the emotions. One then has choice in just experiencing the emotions, allowing them to happen as they will, or to change/control them, if that is appropriate in a given situation. Few westerners are aware that humans breathe only through one nostril at a time, most of the time. Which one is being used changes at different times during the day/night. Many who do rituals, magick, and or spells have them fail because they are breathing through the left nostril when they do them. Breathing through the right nostril makes more psychic energy available to a practitioner when doing rituals and magik. Language/Words/Sounds/Mantra ---------------------------- Words have power ! The language that all the original texts, that eventually became wicca doctrines and wicca practices, were written in was Sanskrit. Today its considered a dead language as only a small number of people in the world can read, write or speak it. It is said,"Sanskrit is the original language of spiritual power and magick." It is said, "Each sanskrit sound, when intoned causes a specific psychic effect and or event to occur inside a person." It is said," A ritual done in sanskrit is far more powerful than if it is done in any another language." A mantra is a sound, group of sounds, and or a word/group of words written in sanskrit. Mantras are usually chanted aloud or silently inside to create specific events inside a person or outside the person in the physical world. The Eastern Masters design/create specific mantras out of sanskrit sounds and words and give them to their disciples, devotees and followers. An example of this is the mantra DEHO NAHAM [I am not my body.] This mantra is used to dis-identify one's self from one's body. It is said,"Identification with the body impedes spiritual growth." It is said,"You are not your body, you are pure consciousness." Body Positions -------------- It is said,"Placing The body is certain specific positions and holding it that position for time periods cause specific internal events/effects in the soul, mind, emotions and body. In sanskrit the specific body positions used to accomplish certain internal effects are named asanas. Hand Gestures ------------- It is said,"Placing the hands in certain specific positions and holding them in those positions for time periods cause specific internal events/effects in the soul, mind, emotions and body." In sanskrit the specific gestures of the hands used to create certain internal effects or external events are called mudras. Certain mudras are used to heal certain health problems.
