Wicca has grown over the centuries, and at one time during early Christianity, was almost wiped out and caused to go underground by the leaders of male oriented religion which feared the power of women, the joy that humans should take in their own sexuality. The male based religion which used fear and predjudice to advance the spread of terror which made many families shatter and separate. By being accused of being a witch many petty people eliminated their competition in love and business...and the power of the Goddess was slowly undermined... Now there is a new upsurge of that power.
