CELTIC TRADITION THE CASTING OF THE CIRCLE... Spend a few moments in meditation before beginning the ritual. Calm yourself, make sure you have all things you need for the ritual you plan to do. Stand, facing east. Take a medium sized stone to the eastern border of the circle. Using the stone, salute to the east, saying, "Hail, Morias, teacher from the city of Falias! Guard us and teach us from the east. Blessed be." Spend a moment visualizing the eastern border of the Circle being formed. Return the stone to the altar. Turn, facing South. Take a spear (or rod?) to the southern border of the circle. Using the spear, salute the the south, saying, Hail, Arias, teacher from the city of Finias. Guard us and teach us from the south. Blessed be." Spend a moment visualizing the southern border of the circle being formed. Return the spear to the altar. Turn, facing West. Take the Cauldron to the western border of the circle. Using the cauldron, salute to the west, saying, "Hail Senias, teacher from the city of Murias. Guard us and lead us from the west. Blessed Be." Spend a moment visualizing the western border of the circle being formed. Return the cauldron to the altar. Turn, facing north. Take the Sword (dagger) to the Northern border of the circle. Using the sword, salute to the north, saying, "Hail Urias, teacher from the city of Gorias. Guard us and lead us from the North. Blessed Be." For a few moments, visualize the northern border of the circle being formed, and the circle being complete. Return the cauldron to the altar. Standing at the altar, light a candle to represent the goddess. As you do so, say something like, "We ask the blessed mother Dana to be with us (me) in our (my) rite. May your light illuminate this circle as your spirit illuminates the hearts of all who enter this circle. Blessed be." Light a candle to represent the God. As you do so, say something like, "Delbaeth, we ask for your presence within this circle, so that all who enter this circle shall know you and enjoy your presence. Blessed Be." TO OPEN THE CIRCLE... Pinch out (do not blow out) the god candle. Say, "Dalbaeth, we thank you for your presence in this circle. Go if you must, stay if you will. We offer you our love and trust. Blessed Be." Perform the same call for the Goddess, and each of the teachers. As you dismiss the teachers, visualize the quarter of the circle dwindling down to nothing. After this, the circle is open, but unbroken...
