THE FAIRYE WOOD (By: Holly Solt) I Went into the fairye wood to hear the fairyes sing, and hoped that I might catch a glimpse of silvered fairye wing. I went into the fairye wood and much to my dismay, Was greeted by the fairye Prince Who asked if I might play! He showed me where the spiders spin the webs that catch the dew. He showed me where the rabbit sleeps at night when day is through. We stopped and drank the tiny drops from honeysuckle flowers, He told me they were captured bits of springtime's magic showers. We sat upon the forest floor amongst the vines and grasses. He called them out, one by one... the fairye lads and lasses. I sat and watched in wonder as they did their fairye things. I wished that I could fly with them, Alas, I had no wings! They blew upon their wooden flutes and sounded like the birds. They talked and sang and laughed and played, not using any words. Then with a wave they went away as softly as they came. And now my walks inside these woods, will never be the same!
