ENDOCRINE TONIC FOR MENOPAUSE 1 part licorice root 1 part ginger 1 part wild yam root 1 part cinnamon 3 parts sassafras 1 part dandelion root 3 parts sarsaparilla 1/2 part orange peel 1 part vitex (chaste berry) 1/4 part dong quai Mix the dried herbs and adjust to your own taste. Use four to six tablespoons of this mixture per quart of water. Start in cold water and slowly bring to a simmer, simmer over low heat for twenty minutes and strain. Drink three to four cups throughout the day for at least three months. You may re-use the herbs several times before discarding, and the tea may be refrigerated and drunk cold. Make sure you are getting plenty of calcium in your diet and go easy on red meats and commercially produced poultry. Try to eliminate as much sugar from your diet as possible too. Several cups of sage tea a day may help as well, as will ginseng. The dong quai should be left out during your bleeding times as it may promote excessive bleeding. To be effective it needs to be used consistently over a period of several months, but it does seem to help.
