Fidget Pie This recipe was made at harvest time in Shropshire, to feed the farm labourers. A piece of bacon, cooked and cut into chunks 1 lb cooking apples (sharp apples, with a crisp texture) cider flour, pepper, brown sugar pastry Put the bacon pieces into a pie dish. Sprinkle with flour and pepper, and cover with cider. Add a layer of apples and a little brown sugar. Cover with shortcrust pastry, and bake in a hot oven for 20 minutes, and a further 20-30 minutes at reduced heat.
